Antique Brass Paul Kruger “Transvaal Money Box” – Made in England Boer War Era Cast Metal Novelty Coin Bank c.1900 tie pin Swiss - made 1960-69A rare antique cast brass Transvaal Money Box, made in England circa 1900, modelled as a caricature of President Paul Kruger of the South African Republic. The figure wears a top hat engraved TRAN. VAAL MONEY BOX and a buttoned frock coat. Coins slot through the hat, and the base unscrews to release savings. Produced as a Boer War satirical novelty, these coin banks reflected British political humour of the era and were sold as patriotic souvenirs.
