Antique Kashani Vase Rug sconce Globe Size: 34 cm -This particular rug was acquired by AB Farquhar in Istanbul (then called "Constantinople") in the beginning of the 20th century. It is called "Vase Rug." It was probably woven in the 2nd half of 19th c. in greater Mesopotamia region. This was a rug hand knotted upon request from Zeynel Abidin of Mardin, TR, as a Tree of Life symbol which gives life and abundance to the beholder. AB Farquhar acquired it during WWI in Istanbul after he had fled Germany,
