When to Consult Your Healthcare Provider Whilst concurrent use of Wegovy and antibiotics is generally safe, certain situations warrant prompt consultation with your GP, practice nurse, or pharmacist : Before starting antibiotics: Always inform prescribers that you are taking Wegovy Discuss any previous adverse reactions to antibiotics Mention if you are experiencing significant Wegovy-related side effects Ask about the optimal timing for taking your antibiotic in relation to meals During antibiotic treatment, contact your healthcare provider if: Gastrointestinal symptoms become severe or unmanageable You cannot keep down medications or fluids due to vomiting You develop signs of allergic reaction (rash, swelling, breathing difficulties) Your infection symptoms worsen or fail to improve after 4872 hours of antibiotic therapy You experience unexplained symptoms such as severe fatigue, confusion, or rapid heartbeat Blood glucose levels become difficult to control (particularly relevant for patients with type 2 diabetes) You develop severe, persistent abdominal pain (with or without vomiting) stop taking Wegovy and seek urgent medical advice as this could indicate pancreatitis, a rare but serious side effect of GLP-1 receptor agonists [10] [1] Regarding Wegovy specifically: If severe vomiting prevents you from maintaining hydration, temporary adjustment of your Wegovy dose may be considered Do not independently stop or reduce Wegovy without medical advice If you miss a Wegovy dose due to illness, follow the guidance in the SmPC: if less than 5 days until your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose
